Our approach to piano restoration

We approach every piano restoration with great care, using only the finest materials and techniques that respect the period in which the piano was originally manufactured.

Restoring an older piano with incorrect parts, materials, or strings can be detrimental to both its tonal character and its value. That’s why all of our piano restoration work is carried out entirely in-house at our specialist workshop in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

Unlike some UK companies who outsource restoration work to firms in the former Eastern Bloc, we believe that relying on cheaper labour often compromises quality. By completing all restoration personally, we maintain the highest standards and ensure consistency. This approach also helps preserve the vital skills of piano restoration within the UK, something we achieve by working in a controlled, single workshop environment.

Previous Restoration Projects 

Here is a recent restoration project we completed on a Blüthner grand piano that had been severely damaged in a house fire. Despite the extent of the damage, our expert team carefully restored the instrument to its former glory, preserving its rich tonal qualities and beautiful craftsmanship.

This Zeitter & Winkelmann piano was discovered tucked away in a barn and has since been transformed into a stunning, bright angelic white baby grand. Our restoration team brought new life to this hidden gem, carefully preserving its character while giving it a fresh, elegant finish. 

This black Petrof baby grand piano was showing signs of wear and fading, so we carefully restored it to its original, stunning glory — bringing back its rich finish and timeless elegance. 

Here is a beautifully restored Steingraeber & Sohn baby grand piano, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and timeless elegance brought back to life by our expert restoration team.

This ornate Paul Gerard upright piano has undergone fantastic restoration work, revitalizing its intricate details and rich character to shine once again.

  Any piano that comes in for restoration will be given an approximate time scale for completion. We must stress that this is only an approximate, as we encounter issues with pianos regularly that lengthen the process.
