Song of the Week - 23/10/2023 - Tubular Bells, Mike Oldfield
We are getting spookier as we get closer to Halloween with this week's song of the week - here we have a beautiful yet haunting masterpiece by English composer Mike Oldfield. It was chosen by Gemma, our bookkeeper, and is one of her favourite pieces of music from film.
Oldfield was only 19 years old at the time of composing this song and was amazed when it became an unexpected hit. Gemma says -
"I have always loved Mike's Tubular Bells! It was an established song to begin with, and although it sold slowly at first it had a boom when it was featured in 'The Exorcist'. Ever since that movie, I have loved its the theme of Tubular Bells."
