Steinhoven was founded in 1985, in 2004 it moved to a new purpose built factory in Fuzhou, China. The company has a highly trained technical team, experienced engineers and skilled craftsmen who have perfected the art of piano building over the past twenty-five years.
Steinhoven pianos are made in Asia which is why they are able to keep down the cost of the piano but they are designed and engineered by German and British piano making masters - to ensure the standard of quality is maintained both in the cabinet and also the action.
Steinhoven aim to be up there alongside the German piano makers such as Bechstein and Steinway and become established on the world stage. Looking at the materials they use aids Steinhoven in becoming a recognised master piano maker. The pianos have a rich and distinctive "European" sound – a characteristic largely attributable to the quality of the wood used in our soundboards. 100% Russian Spruce soundboards which comes from sustainable managed forests and is widely regarded as the best tone wood available.
They also focus on what the piano is like for the piano technician - the use of substantial spruce back grids throughout the range, combined with the vacuum process cast iron frame and tuning plank ensures that Steinhoven backs comfortably support over 20 tons of tension and provide excellent tuning stability, making the piano tuners job that little bit easier.
As the Steinhoven pianos are being manufactured, each piano goes through an exhaustive checking process. Tests such as each note being tested at least 250 times checks that the instruments are up to the playing standards of the pianists.
Not only is the action and piano mechanism of high quality but also Steinhoven pianos are meticulously finished in satin or high gloss polyester. There stock also features wood finishes, which is a nice touch in the time where black pianos are the most sought after.
